  Midsummer turns out to be Seattle's celebratory season to send Willow & the Embers off to further adventures as they move on to Nashville as Willow and one Ember. Fortunately we get to hold the other Ember here for safe keeping until the rest of them find their way back to us.My [this is Mary Lydia speaking,] history with Willow began in 1996 at Joe Bar Cafe where we met in person for the first time as I accepted her invitation to become one of the handful of women of Persephone's Circle, a performance group Willow dreamed up comprised of local female singer-songwriters. The women of Persephone's Circle supported and joined efforts of one another on and off stage as we grew in our music careers and personal lives.Persephone’s Circle was active for close to one decade featured at Bumbershoot, Northwest Folk Life Festival, in live radio performances, mini tours, many clubs and coffee houses in Seattle and surrounding neighborhoods and cities. Beyond our musical ties and passion for creativity in many forms, friendships have grown deep.This Midsummer Night’s Song has been richly infused with the lovely energies of these many years and stories interwoven between these women, their lives and music. It is with honor and gratitude for Willow and her added Embers over the course of her musical journey in Seattle, that Tiger Zane and I help send them off with our deepest love and best wishes.
